Minimania

A couple of months ago, I found a pattern on Ravelry called Minimania, a scarf made widthways rather than lengthways from 4ply yarn. My intention was to make it from any unused mini-skeins when I had completed my Beekeeper's Quilt ...
... as you can see i've already started it! I'm using some of the colours i've had in mini-skein packs that do not go with the 'blue' theme of my quilt, plus some DyeSpinKnit skeins that i'm using just because I love the 'tootyfrooty' bright colours! So much so that I ordered more mini-skeins from Kerry at DyeSpinKnit!
I'm going to stick to the fruity colour scheme, with the odd stripe of bottle green or maroon to add definition. The stitch is linen stitch, which gives a woven effect. The colours merge into each other, it's the nearest thing to watercolour painting in the knitting world ... and the actual knitting is so therapeutic. There are 400 stitches and i've made the odd mistake, purling when I should be knitting - you don't spot it until the next row, and even then it's difficult to see. It's slow work, but it's very rewarding, and for the moment at least, it's a portable project that I can do on the bus or train ... looks like I need to make a few long journeys over the summer ...
