Selvedge Magazine – September 2010

The September issue of Selvedge magazine landed on my doormat this morning, and it’s a good one!

I haven’t read everything, but there are lots of interesting articles. The digitally printed book created by Julia Griffiths Jones for the National Wool Museum is particularly amazing.

The article about the textile scraps from the Foundling Hospital in London is a moving one – the story of the many fabric scraps found with abandoned babies in the 18th century, a means of identification should the mother ever choose to return and reclaim their child.
There are also some fabulous Vera Neumann illustrations. I want to start doodling pictures of clothes!
